Edit a pathway

ForManagersAdmins

The pathway window is where you finish a pathway after you create it or generate it, and where you keep it correct later. You change its details and its interactions, then you publish it.

Go to ManagePathways, then select the pencil icon (Edit pathway) on the card of the pathway.

A published pathway on its Content tab, with the Details panel at the left and the list of interactions, each with its type and Published status, at the right.
The Content tab of a pathway: the details at the left and the interactions at the right.

Arcade saves the details of the pathway automatically, but an interaction needs Save.

  • Prerequisite pathway: a pathway that learners must complete first. Until then, this pathway stays locked for them. Assign the prerequisite to the same people.
  • Skill focus: the skills that the pathway trains. Arcade finds them for you. Refer to Pathways, skills, and certifications.

To translate the pathway, select its language at the top right of Details.

Learners do the interactions in the order of the list. Select the status pill of a row to publish or unpublish that interaction. Learners see only the published interactions of a published pathway.

In the list of interactions, select Add, select the type, and describe the topic.

AI writes the interaction, adds it at the end of the pathway as a draft, and opens it. Add uses AI only. To build an interaction by hand, refer to Create a single interaction.

What you can change depends on the type:

  • AI Training and AI Roleplay: Learner Materials can have up to 10 slide decks, PDFs, or images that learners see on the screen during the session. Arcade adds each file when its upload completes, so these files do not need Save.
  • Certification: Pass Criteria is the number of cards that a learner must pass in one attempt. Cooldown Period is the number of days before a learner can try again. Refer to Why did I fail the certification?

When you change a published interaction, learners see the new content at once. Their completions and the scores of their past sessions stay. Refer to From draft to learner.

Describe a change in your own words, for example “Add a question about gift returns to the certification”. AI changes the pathway, and you decide if you keep the result.

Select Refine with AI at the bottom of the pathway window, and describe the change. Review the changes before you select Apply.

Keep the pathway window open until the changes show. If you close it before then, you lose the changes. On a published pathway, Arcade publishes the interactions that AI adds when you select Apply.

Select Publish, then select the draft interactions to publish with the pathway.

Learners see the pathway only after you publish it and assign it. Refer to From draft to learner. If Publish is not available, your organization cannot publish content yet. Contact your Arcade customer success manager.

When you unpublish a pathway (More, then Unpublish), the assignments stay, so learners get the pathway back when you publish it again.

A copy is a draft with every interaction. A delete (More, then Delete) also removes all the interactions of the pathway, and you cannot restore it. To keep the pathway for later, unpublish it.
