I assigned a pathway. Why can't my learners see it?
A learner sees a pathway on the Train tab only when you published the pathway, it has published interactions, and its assignment includes the learner. A pathway that has a prerequisite shows, but it stays locked until the learner completes the prerequisite.
The pathway is a draft
Section titled “The pathway is a draft”How to tell: the top of the pathway window shows Draft. The assignment dialog shows “This pathway is a draft”.
What to do: publish the pathway. Refer to Publish a pathway. If you cannot select Publish, speak to your Arcade customer success manager. Your organization cannot publish content until they turn it on.
Arcade sends New training available only when you save an assignment of a published pathway. If you assigned the draft first, learners get no notification when you publish it.
The interactions are drafts
Section titled “The interactions are drafts”Learners see only the published interactions of a pathway. A pathway without published interactions does not show. Coaching interactions do not show on the Train tab, so a pathway with only coaching interactions does not show.
How to tell: in the Interactions panel of the pathway, the status pill of each interaction shows Published or Draft. The type of a coaching interaction shows COACHING.
What to do: select the Draft pill of each interaction that is ready. Refer to Manage the interactions.
The assignment does not include the learner
Section titled “The assignment does not include the learner”How to tell: select the Assignment: row of the pathway to see its teams and users.
- Specific Teams includes the members of each team and of its sub-teams.
- Everyone on my teams includes the members of the teams that the manager who saved it manages, and of their sub-teams. If that manager no longer manages a team, its members lose the pathway.
What to do: add the learner or the team of the learner to the assignment. You can also add the learner to a team that has the pathway. Refer to Assign a pathway and Add people to a team.
The pathway shows UPCOMING with a lock
Section titled “The pathway shows UPCOMING with a lock”A pathway with a Prerequisite pathway stays locked until the prerequisite shows COMPLETED for the learner. The learner cannot open a locked pathway, also after they started it. Arcade keeps the interactions that they completed.
A pathway can lock again, or stay locked, for these reasons:
- You set the prerequisite after the learner started the pathway.
- You published a new interaction in the prerequisite. The learner must complete it before the prerequisite is complete again.
- The prerequisite is not on the Train tab of the learner, because it is a draft or its assignment does not include the learner.
- A session of an interaction in the prerequisite did not get approval. An interaction is complete only when Arcade approves a session of it.
How to tell: the Prerequisite pathway field in the Details panel names the prerequisite. Make sure that the learner has the prerequisite and completed all its interactions.
What to do:
- Publish the prerequisite and assign it to the same people.
- If the learner did the session, you can approve it. Refer to Approve a session.
- To remove the lock for all learners, set Prerequisite pathway to None. Refer to Change the details of a pathway.
